Sometimes I have trouble knowing what I look like. It's not full on body dysmorphia, but I get....confused. There was a study done to try to understand why schizophrenics have more hallucinations associated with reflective surfaces. They sat people with schizophrenia and people without a history of visual hallucinations in front of a mirror in a dim room for 20 minutes. The control group reported seeing vague, horrific faces in the mirror. I want to know what I really look like, so I'm taking a picture of myself every day or so (usually on my terrible macbook webcam) and posting it here, to see if that helps me understand. I also post and reblog goth-y art and writing, pretty things, and things related to my ongoing battle with depression.
This is probably one of the most unsettling pictures I’ve ever seen.
